After the Opposition government meeting the Party of Regions Leader Viktor Yanukovych held a briefing for the journalists and answered a number of questions concerning the country’s political life.

Answering the journalist’s question concerning the format of protest actions, Viktor Yanukovych said that the issue of protest actions, taking into account the government’s and coalition’s failure to meet their obligations will come into question on Monday.



“We will raise this issue and raise it with the claims to make the government and coalition submit an anti-crisis program to parliament so that it would be seen by all Ukrainian people. Protest actions are designated to make the coalition and power tell the Ukrainian people the truth", Viktor Yanukovych pointed out.

Viktor Yanukovych marked that the Party of Regions would not support the laws which raise taxes in any case. "The matter concerns a rise in land tax, which we called "weeds tax". On the contrary, we will do everything to stall these laws. And we will make every effort for this purpose. We will not let the coalition work covertly", the Party of Regions Leader said.



According to Viktor Yanukovych, the Party of Regions faction members have already elaborated a draft, which will abolish tax burden on small and middle business.

Viktor Yanukovych refuted the information about holding the negotiations between the Party of Regions and the Tymoshenko Bloc. "There are no negotiations. Currently the negotiations with Tymoshenko Bloc are suspended for various reasons", he noted.

Estimating Inna Bogoslovska’s presidential ambitions, the Party of Regions Leader said: "She is an ambitious woman. She thinks she is able to fulfill everything she promised the Party of Regions, all the programs we planned... We are not against it – let her do it". But Viktor Yanukovych underlined that Inna Bogoslovska’s moves will be considered by the party leadership next week.

Answering the journalists’ question regarding the authorities’ steps for overcoming the crisis, Viktor Yanukovych pointed out that the Party of Regions is for "overcoming the crisis and getting out of the present complicated situation as soon as possible. But we wish the authorities told the truth".

Viktor Yanukovych expressed his indignation that both the President and prime minister are holding a populist policy and giving new promises, having not accomplished the previous ones. "The people are already tired of it. Could they really understand that it will not do anymore? The people are fed up with the authorities’ pledges", he said.

According to Viktor Yanukovych, populism of the meetings conducted by Yulia Tymoshenko is so obvious that one can shoot a humorous movie. "When I saw that in the hall, where one and a half thousand peasants gathered, the prime minister told: come to me, I will personally sign the budget for each of you, - that would be a bright movie, a very funny one. Yet it is laughing with one eye and weeping with the other".
