During his briefing, Viktor Yanukovych announced the following:

- Good evening, dear friends!

I congratulate all of you on this victory in the elections! I congratulate you and the whole nation of Ukraine! It was not an easy path to this victory. We proposed changes that are extremely necessary for the country, and the citizens of Ukraine supported us. I want to thank everyone who came to this meeting.

We know how many poor people live in our country, and how many people in the country need help. We should meet their needs. We should construct our policy in such a way that in the immediate future people feel changes for the better and feel relief.

I want to thank all voters who participated in the elections today, despite what candidate they voted for. I want to address the voters of Tymoshenko and those candidates that didn’t enter the second round of the elections.. I know that your votes will be considered. I will try to implement policies that will win your confidence.

I will do everything for the citizens of Ukraine, regardless of their geographic location in the country, so that they feel comfortable and calm in a stable country.

These elections opened up new opportunities for all – every person, every family, every enterprise, every branch of industry and every region. I will implement such reforms that will allow us to overcome the effects of the crisis in the near future.

I will do everything so that the economy of Ukraine shows growth results in the nearest future, and of course, on this basis I will improve the well-being of our people, especially, those who find it difficult to fight poverty.

We should not look for enemies in our country. We should unite and fight such enemies as poverty, irresponsibility, and corruption.

We are ready to build a successful and strong state. I give thanks to God that he helped us turn a new page in the history of our country.
