Viktor Slauta: The Party of Regions will not support the WTO bills introduced by the BYUT faction without elaborating and implementing the appropriate adaptation measures for agro-industrial complex of Ukraine to the WTO rules
During today's briefing in Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine the People’s Deputy, Party of Regions parliamentary faction member Viktor Slauta declared the following:
- The situation in the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine is changing about our ears. When relevant agreements on Ukraine’s entering the WTO have been signed over different years, it was one case. When the treaty on our country’s joining the WTO has been already concluded, the situation has dramatically changed.
For four months of this year the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine has experienced actually a zero production growth. 20% of pig livestock and 11% of cattle livestock have been slaughtered. The basic resource and financial potential of agricultural producers is being exhausted. As for late 2007 a consumer price index was higher than an agro-cultural price index. For the time being, I stress out once again, only over four months of this year, all the resources which are consumed by domestic agro-industrial complex have increased in price by 43.5%, and agricultural products price grew by 113.1% . No comment.
Under such conditions the Party of Regions faction cannot support all five WTO bills introduced by the BYUT faction before Verkhovna Rada without elaborating and implementing the appropriate adaptation measures for agro-industrial complex of Ukraine to the WTO rules.
