Return to the Section

Mykola Azarov, Member of Parliament from the Party of Regions, candidate to the post of Prime Minister of Ukraine, during his speech at the tribune of Verkhovna Rada has answered the question how long will it take for the new government to stabilize the economic situation in Ukraine:

- We plan to stabilize the situation in the country during 2010. 2010 will become the year of stabilization. We are aware of the international economists’ forecasts about the possibility of the second wave of global crisis in 2012. Ukraine should be prepared for it.

I think 2012 will be a turning point. We will do everything to launch structural reforms. But reforms should be elaborated.

Answering the question about the measures which will be undertaken by the new government to fight corruption, Mykola Azarov noted:

- If the Head of the government is not a corrupter, if the minister is not a corrupter, it will be quite easy to overcome corruption. We will rigidly fire those who are even suspected of corruption.

My ministers will not enjoy easy job. The situation is other. If we considered the policy of our predecessors as marauding, we will not apply a delicate approach to ourselves.
